Children growing up in a military family experience many unique challenges. Comfort Crew for Military Kids is there to provide support and resources so they can thrive.
Comfort Crew for Military Kids - Pacific Northwest
Every day, military families are faced with extraordinary circumstances: being separated due to a deployment, learning to live together again after deployment, healing from visible or invisible injuries, or losing a family member. Children growing up in a military family will experience many transitions and learning how to manage them is critical. Comfort Crew for Military Kids (CCMK) is there to provide support and resources that help families navigate these difficult challenges and thrive! CCMK’s objectives are to deliver resources that will increase communication within families, teach kids how to understand, manage, and express their feelings, and let kids know they are not alone.
The Comfort Crew’s Comfort Kit Resiliency Program delivers Comfort Kits which contain a comprehensive set of resources and strategies to build resiliency: access to an animated video to let kids know they aren’t alone, a guided journal with prompts to express their feelings, a plush animal offering comfort and companionship, a guidebook with strategies for parents on how to talk to their children, and items unique to each Comfort Kit. The Comfort Kit components are designed for military children ages 6-12. CCMK serves members of every branch of service, at no cost to the families, thanks to the generosity of their donors and program partners.
The Comfort Crew for Military Kids organization identified a need for their services in the Pacific Northwest and the JTMF Foundation was proud to support their request. We realize when a military member serves, their entire family sacrifices.
