A New Home, A Brighter Future for the Canby Adult Center

For more than 50 years, the Canby Adult Center (CAC) has helped older adults remain
healthy, independent, and connected. What began in the 1970s as a home-delivered
meals program has grown into a community hub serving more than 1,000 seniors
annually through nutritious meals, transportation, fitness classes, educational programs, and opportunities to build meaningful friendships.

Each year, CAC provides more than 40,000 meals, nearly 4,300 rides to medical
appointments and community activities, offering a lifeline to many older adults who are homebound or living alone.

Unfortunately, the ageing city-owned building that has housed CAC for decades no
longer meets the needs of a growing senior population. That changed when the Canby United Methodist Church offered to sell its building to CAC while continuing to worship there on Sundays, creating a unique partnership that provides the Center with a permanent home.

The renovated facility will include a larger commercial kitchen, expanded food storage, ADA-accessible restrooms, improved gathering spaces, and the ability to serve as an emergency shelter during disasters.

The new space will allow CAC to expand programs, accommodate more participants,
and better serve a rapidly growing senior population. Just as importantly, it will provide older adults with a welcoming place to gather, stay active, build friendships, and access the resources they need to remain healthy and independent.

For the first time in its history, the Canby Adult Center will own its home, ensuring that
vital services continue to grow alongside Canby's aging population. The JTMF Foundation is proud to support this investment in the health, independence, and well-
