Young Life Bellingham - Capernaum

Young Life is a Christian ministry for middle school, high school, and college students in all 50 of the United States and more than 100 countries around the world. Their mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith.

Young Life Capernaum is a program serving students with special needs by providing an environment where they can experience genuine community, mentorship from their volunteer leader, growth in their faith, and assistance in providing for practical needs in their or their family’s lives. High School students serve as buddies and coaches for Capernaum, where their role and presence is critical to the success of the ministry.

Bellingham Young Life wanted to expand their services to include the Capernaum program. They needed funding to help hire three staff positions in order to establish a flagship Capernaum Club at Bellingham High School which is being used as a model for developing future clubs in Whatcom County. As part of the role out they created a buddy program for high school students, as well as implemented a yearly Capernaum Family Camp and Summer Day Camp to be offered regionally and locally.

The JTMF Foundation is happy to support Young Life Bellingham bring Capernaum to individuals in their community by providing a three year grant to assist with salaries and start-up costs of the new program.
